Adidas is Taking Away NHL 3rd Jerseys and I’m not Happy About it

So the NHL will be switching over from Reebok to Adidas next season as the official maker of the league’s jersey manufacturer. With this comes the news that 3rd jerseys will be going away next season.

According to Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune:

Multiple sources tell the Star Tribune that all NHL teams will be permitted to have only home and road jerseys next season as Adidas takes over for Reebok as the official outfitter of NHL uniforms.

There will be no third jerseys, in order to make the initial implementation of new sweaters easier.

No word yet on if third jerseys will be making a comeback for the 2018-19 season. This one hurts. I love third jerseys, and the NHL has some of the best in professional sports. Some teams will have to decide if they are going to keep their current jerseys, or if they are going to make their alternate their new primary jerseys. This is a sad day. I can’t believe we’re losing jerseys like these. Farewell, for now (hopefully)!
